Ravenous and Salivating

Ravenous and Salivating is a heartbreaking call and response about the death of a relationship. It is beautifully succinct. The two poets blend their voices, each choosing the right detail (or “grenade” if you like) to throw back at the other. Despite the “yellow-green from healing bruises,” the speaker of the poems remind us that “maybe it is about reaching for a hand to hold in the dark.” In the end, readers are left hoping the speaker of the poem finds the grace to “make new mistakes.” This daring collection gives voice to many nuanced feelings about relationships that too often go unspoken.
